Why does the sun appear white?
There are two types of primary colors. One, the colors of light are red, green and blue. And the other ones which are the pigments i.e. the colors of the substances. That is, those which we use in painting etc. These are red, blue and yellow. Broadly the difference between these two is in the properties. One has the ability to add up and the other to decrease. The primary colors of light are called additive colors and the colors of pigments are called subtractive colors.
Now understand the difference between these two. The special thing about the colors available in the form of pigments is that they absorb all the colors when light falls and reflect only that color of which it belongs. as the sky reflects only blue and
That's why it appears blue. Clearly, the tendency of the colors of a substance is that it removes all other colors except the color of the object. That's why they are called subtractive colors. On the other hand, colors of light have a different tendency. Its specialty is that it appears as it is. If there is red light then there is red colour, if there is green then it is green. But if any two colors come together, they mix. If red and green color mix together, then it will appear yellow. That is, the colors of light have the property of joining.
Hence they are called additive or additive colours. Have you ever thought that sunlight appears white to us, but it is a mixture of all the primary colors. This is the specialty of being an additive, but if you want to make a white color by mixing the primary colors of the substances, then it is not possible.
